Visit les Baux de Provence
Les Baux de Provence is one of the most famous sites in Provence. The small medieval village is located in the Alpilles, perched on a rocky spur with steep cliffs, dominated by the ruins of a formidable medieval fortress. The village of Les Baux de Provence is reminiscent of an eagle's nest, the landscape is spectacular and it attracts many tourists every year. The village was gradually deserted by its inhabitants from the 17th century and almost abandoned in the 19th century in favour of the villages on the plain below: Maussane and Paradou. Les Baux de Provence has kept the look of the village as it was in the Renaissance, it has been admirably restored, it is certainly a site not to be missed by visitors to the region. The landscapes around Les Baux de Provence are also spectacular: the Val d'Enfer offers the vision of strangely shaped rocks, sculpted by the wind and the rain. The Château des Baux de Provence can be visited and events are regularly organised.
