This region of Vaucluse department is located between the Rhone valley, Vaison la Romaine, Carpentras and Mont Ventoux. The Laces of Montmirail are the first hills above the Rhone Valley, and are named after the rocky ridges, steep finely carved by wind and rain, great place for hiking and biking. The vineyards flourish at the foot of Dentelles and on its flanks, are grown some of the best Côtes du Rhône wines. Gigondas wine is best reputated, it got his own appellation of origin. Other villages produce a "Cotes du Rhone Village" in their own name to the excellent reputation: Vacqueyras, Beaumes de Venise (known for a muscat), Rasteau, Sablet, Roaix, Séguret (which is also ranked among the most beautiful villages of France)
