The finest beaches of the Côte Bleue belong to the lands of Martigues!

The limestone hills of the Estaque range stretch for some thirty kilometres between northern Marseille and Martigues, forming a natural barrier between the calm waters of the Étang de Berre and the waves and currents of the Mediterranean. This rugged coastline is home to numerous calanques with wild contours and a few beaches of rare beauty, the jewels of which lie on the western portion, within the territory of Martigues.

Among them is Verdon Beach, nestled in the hollow of a deep cove— the largest beach on the Côte Bleue. Its 300 metres of fine sand lie close to the amenities of the village of La Couronne, where cafés, restaurants, and nearby parking make the stop both pleasant and convenient. Supervised during the season, it also offers a variety of water activities for the whole family.

More intimate and serene, Laurons Beach, a mix of pebbles and fine sand, enchants with its tranquillity, its facilities, and its lush surroundings.

Just a few kilometres away lie the beaches of Sainte-Croix and La Saulce, which, despite being easily accessible, reveal a preserved setting. Rocky cliffs frame a stretch of fine sand in a pristine environment—often regarded as the pearl of the Côte Bleue. With shallow waters, it is ideal for families and remains delightfully peaceful outside the high season.

Around the port of Carro, rocky inlets draw a wild and picturesque landscape. Those seeking refuge from the summer crowds can find solace here, savouring the quiet of these preserved coves, far from the often-crowded beaches of peak season.
